Education
We must find a way to adequately fund education. Currently, we are last in the nation in state aid to education. This is shameful. Not only does this negatively impact our students and teachers, but it also places an unfair burden on local taxpayers who have to pick up the state’s slack. Currently, the State is sitting on hundreds of millions of dollars in an education enhancement fund. If elected I will work to use these monies to actually enhance education without placing additional burdens on taxpayers. We need to invest in our kids now so they have the skills to compete in an ever more complicated world, to make our state more attractive to companies looking to relocate, and because it’s the right thing to do.
- Fund education through the more efficient use of the Education Enhancement Trust Fund
- Increase funding without raising taxes and reduce the burden on local taxpayers
- Invest in our future by investing in our kids instead of building trust funds
- Encourage savings by school districts by increasing efficiency and reducing fixed costs.
